How do I find things in a large library?

Search

Search is on Home, and it looks through both folders and items. It matches names and the notes you've written, which is one more reason to write a short note when you save something. A few words like the name of a supplier or a material are usually enough to find it a year later.

Filters

Filters narrow what's on screen by what each item already carries: its tags, its folder, its star rating, whether it has markup. You can combine them. Picking a project's tag and then three stars or more turns two thousand items into a few dozen.

If something you just imported doesn't appear, check that a filter or search isn't still active. It's the most common reason an item seems to be missing.

Save a filter

When a combination of filters is one you come back to, save it. Saved filters and Smart Folders keep updating as you add and tag new items, and you can drag them into the order you like.

Find similar images

From an image's detail view, you can search for images in your library that look like it. It's a quick way to gather every version of an idea, such as all the references with a similar palette, without having tagged them the same way.

Sorting and Recent

Any view can be sorted by date added, date created, title, file type, size, width, height, aspect ratio, when you last opened an item, or at random. Random order is a good way to come across things you'd forgotten. The Recent section on Home can show either what you added recently or what you viewed recently.
