How do tags, stars, notes, and comments work?

Tags

A tag is a word or phrase you attach to an item, and the same tag can be used across every folder in the library. Tags can be organized into groups, and you can star the tags you use most so they're quick to reach. Tag Manager is where you rename and sort them. You can also add a new tag directly from the tag selector while you're tagging an item.

Stars

A star rating is the simplest way to build a shortlist. Go through a folder, give the strong candidates a few stars, and then filter by rating to see only those.

Notes

A note belongs to the item as a whole. Use it for the reason you saved something, a price, a supplier's name, or anything else you'd otherwise have to look up again. You can select several items and edit their notes together, which helps after a big import.

For longer writing, create a text document in the library. Text documents support Markdown, so you can use headings, lists, bold text, and links.

Comments

You can add comments to an image or a video, to record a specific observation about it. They're the right tool when the useful detail is easy to miss, like the way a hinge is recessed or where a transition starts.

Adding details as you save

Choose Add Details when importing, and you can set the folder, tags, stars, and note before the items are saved. If a folder is set to tag new items automatically, anything you add to it receives those tags without any extra steps.
