How do I lock a folder with a password?

You can set a password on any folder. While the folder is locked, its contents don't appear in the All view, and they come back when you unlock it.

What locking is for

Some references shouldn't be visible when you hand your iPad across a table. It might be work for a client under a confidentiality agreement, a product that hasn't been announced, or something personal. Locking a folder keeps those items out of sight while the rest of the library stays open.

Lock a folder

You set a password on the folder itself.

  1. Open the folder's options.
  2. Choose to add a password, and enter one you'll remember.
  3. The folder is now locked. Open it by entering the password.

What changes while it's locked

Items in a locked folder disappear from the All view until the folder is unlocked. That way they don't show up while you scroll through the library with someone watching.

Change or remove the password

You can change a folder's password or remove it at any time from the folder's options. Removing the password returns the folder to normal.
