How do Slideshow, widgets, and Shortcuts work?
Slideshow presents a group of items full screen without exporting them. Widgets put recent or chosen references on your Home Screen, and Shortcuts let you automate imports and start a slideshow.
Slideshow
Select a folder or a group of items and start a slideshow. Hive plays them one after another, full screen, straight from the library. That's how many people show a shortlist to a client: hand over the iPad and step through the set. A slideshow can also be exported if you need to send it.
Widgets
Hive offers several widgets for the Home Screen.
- Latest Import shows what you saved most recently.
- Featured shows items from folders you choose, and can shuffle so older items come up too.
- Quick Slideshow starts a slideshow in one tap.
- Folder and photo widgets keep a particular folder or image in view.
Shortcuts
Hive adds actions to the Shortcuts app. One imports media into your library, so you can build a shortcut that brings in a batch of files in a single step. Another starts a slideshow, which can be combined with other actions.
Questions
Do I need to export images before presenting them?
No. Slideshow plays from the library.
Can a widget show a specific folder?
Yes. The Featured widget shows items from the folders you select.
Do Shortcuts work on the Mac?
Hive's Shortcuts actions are made for automating imports and slideshows. Check the Shortcuts app on your device for the actions available there.
