How do I save from Chrome into Hive for Mac?
Install the Hive extension from the Chrome Web Store and keep Hive for Mac open with a library. Then drag media into the Hive panel, or use the extension's buttons to save the page's address or capture part of the page.
Set it up
The Chrome extension works together with Hive for Mac. It passes what you save to the Hive app on the same computer.
- Install Hive for Mac and open a library. Hive needs to be running to receive what you save.
- Add the Hive extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- Pin Hive to Chrome's toolbar so it's one click away.
Four ways to save
Open the extension on any page and choose what fits.
- Drag an image, a video, or a link into the Hive panel.
- Save URL keeps the page itself as a link.
- Capture Area saves a region you draw on the page.
- Capture Visible saves what's on screen now.
- Capture Page saves the whole page from top to bottom.
Where it goes
Everything lands in the library that's open in Hive for Mac, with the page's address attached. The extension talks only to Hive on your Mac. It doesn't send your items to a server.
If the extension can't reach Hive
Check that Hive for Mac is open and that a library is loaded, then try again. If you quit Hive, the extension has nothing to send to until you open it again.

Does the Chrome extension work on iPhone or iPad?
No. It's for Chrome on the Mac. On iPhone and iPad, use the Safari extension or the share sheet.
Do I need the Chrome extension if I use Safari on the Mac?
No. Hive for Mac includes a Safari extension. Turn it on in Safari's settings.
Is the link saved with the image?
Yes. The page's address stays with what you saved.
