Does Hive work on Mac?

What the Mac app is good for

The Mac is where long sessions happen. A large display shows far more of a library at once, and a mouse and keyboard make it quicker to rename, retag, and move many items. Images are sharper at desktop sizes, and scrolling through a big library stays smooth.

Most people keep saving on the phone and do the slower organizing on the Mac. The library is the same either way.

Installing it

Hive for Mac comes from the App Store, under the same listing as the iPhone and iPad app. There's no separate installer on the website.

1. Open the App Store on a Mac with macOS 26.0 or later and Apple Silicon (M1 or later).
2. Search for Hive Image Organizer and download it.
3. Open Hive and either create a library or choose an existing library folder.

Saving from a browser on the Mac

Hive for Mac includes a Safari extension. After installing Hive, turn the extension on in Safari's settings, under Extensions. For Chrome, there's a separate Hive extension in the Chrome Web Store that sends what you save to Hive on the same Mac.

Sharing a library with iPhone and iPad

With Pro, one library syncs between iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Put the library in iCloud Drive so every device can reach it. Without Pro, each device keeps its own library. You can still copy a library folder from one device to another, but that's a one-time copy and the two won't stay in step.
