Instagram's Saved tab is where a lot of good references go to be forgotten. Saving takes one tap, so we save a lot, and the list only grows.
Collections help a little, but the posts still live inside Instagram, out of reach of the rest of your work.
This is how I move the posts that matter into a library of my own, without losing where they came from.
Why Saved Posts Get Lost
The Saved list is a list of bookmarks, not a library. Instagram decides how it is shown, newest first, and the only way to sort it is into collections.
A collection cannot hold a note. You cannot tag a post, search for what was in the picture, or put it next to a PDF from a supplier or a photo from a site visit.
The post also depends on its author. If they delete it, archive it, or make the account private, it quietly disappears from your saves as well.
None of this matters for a recipe you meant to try. It matters a great deal for the twelve references a project was built on.
Add the Reason While You Remember It
When you save, you know exactly why. A week later, you often do not.
If you choose Add Details instead of Auto Save, you can pick a folder, add a tag or a star, and write one line before the post goes in. "The colour of the tiles behind the counter" is enough.
Sort the Week's Saves
Saving from Instagram is quick, so the saves add up quickly. Once a week, open what came in on an iPad, star the few that still matter, give them a tag, and delete the rest.
What is left is a short set of references, each with its source and a reason, in a folder you control.
What About the Saves You Already Have?
There is no button that moves Instagram's whole Saved list somewhere else. For a few dozen posts, the quickest way is to open each one and share it to Hive.
For longer lists, copy the links into one place, then paste them into Hive's Import Center. Hive goes through the links in order and shows what it fetched from each one.
